He called a meeting of all the foxes. He said, “Friends, tails are useless. They are heavy and dirty. Let us cut off our tails.” An old fox stood up and said, “Friend, you want us to cut our tails because you have lost yours.” All the foxes understood the trick. They laughed at him and went away. The fox felt more ashamed and went back to his den.

Moral: Do not give selfish advice to others.

A Fox Without a Tail Completing Story HSC

One day a fox was caught in a trap. He somehow managed to escape, but he lost his tail. Deprived of his beautiful tail, he felt deeply humiliated. He dreaded the ridicule of his fellow foxes. Instead of accepting his misfortune, he devised a cunning plan. He summoned all the foxes and addressed them with great confidence. He argued that tails were nothing but a burden and that it would be wise to get rid of them. Many foxes listened in silence, but an experienced old fox saw through his motive. He remarked that the speaker was only trying to hide his own loss by making others suffer the same fate. The assembly burst into laughter, and the fox stood speechless in shame. Thus his selfish plan failed completely. He realised that one should accept one’s weakness honestly rather than deceive others.

Moral: Selfish advice deceives no one for long.

But the other foxes did not believe him. A clever fox said, “You have lost your tail, so now you want others to do the same. We are not stupid.” All the foxes laughed together, and the fox with the tail cut off felt even more embarrassed.
